How to play Mahjong Solitaire
- Tap two identical free tiles to remove them.
- A tile is free when nothing is on top of it and its left or right side is open. Blocked tiles are shaded.
- Flowers đ¸ match any flower and seasons âī¸ match any season.
- Clear every tile to win. Use đĄ Hint, đ Shuffle or âļ Undo when stuck.
- Try the three layouts: Pyramid, Fortress and Butterfly.
Tips & strategy
Work from the top
Tiles on the highest layers block the most others â clear them early.
Open long rows from the ends
Rows unlock from their left and right ends, so target the ends of the longest rows.
When three match, think
If three identical tiles are free, pick the pair that frees the most other tiles.
Frequently asked questions
Is every Mahjong Solitaire game winnable?
Yes. Each deal is generated backwards from an empty board, so a solution always exists.
What happens when I run out of moves?
Tap Shuffle to rearrange the remaining tiles into a new solvable arrangement, or Undo.
Is this the same as Mahjong with four players?
No â this is the single-player tile-matching solitaire version played with mahjong tiles.
